Lance Armstrong's kissing

My wife pointed out to me that LA always kisses the podium girls three times each, while everyone else kisses them twice. Besides just getting his money worth, can anyonen explain why he does this? Do
Americans get extra dibs?

I'm French and this is a very good summary of the situation, except that Paris suburbs would still be two. You have to go to the countryside to hit 3 or 4 ;-)

the reason is, when it is a hot chick you kiss her 3 or even 4 times. ugly chick just one cheek. this was taught to me by the french themselves. watch and see for your self. it holds true.....

In France, different regions and different social groups kiss different number of times- 2, 3, or 4. For instance, I've noticed most Parisians do 2 while those in the suburbs do 4 (maybe it's because Parisians are in more of a hurry ? It can get awkward if you're a 4 kisser and the other person's a 2 kisser, you tend to get left hanging with a dumb look on your face waiting for the 3rd. In fact, people sometimes announce how many kisses before they start ("4 fois" or "2 fois").

My guess is that Lance's experiences when he lived in France were in a region where 3 was the norm, and that's just what he got used to.

BTW, the (yellow) podium girls were interviewed in France and they said they were hoping someone else would win. They were tired of always kissing Lance, it was getting boring. Is that anti-american?
