I discovered my Trek 2300 ('99 model) frame is cracked where the down tube and seat tube meet the BB. After discovering the crack it appears that part of it had been cracked for some time as it was dirty at the crack and some of it was fresh bright alum.
My question is this: has anyone had a Trek frame claim and how did they treat you? Also, does anyone know if I can upgrade to a OCLV frame under this warranty?
Today I changed my chainwheels and discovered the same. The frame already cracked/lost paint at the top tube (corrosion), where the rear brake wire is connected. I was looking for warranty issues on the net and saw your topic.
Will let you know if I can dig something up myself and hope you'll do the same if you were lucky already.

Why checking the internet? I just called my dealer (who did not sell me the old 2300, but my latest toy, the Trek 6500 MTB) and he'll send the pictures of the frame to Trek. If the damage is not caused in any way by me, there's hope. So far, so good!
Hi Braveheart,
Thanks for joining in. Dutch roots or study?
Here's a picture of the damage.
It really looks like Trek Holland will provide another frame. Very good service from Trek and my dealer (Buitenhuis, Hoenderloo, The Netherlands).
