Watch out racers, mtn biker in your midst

That's right, I'm venturing into your domain. My name is Nathan, and I ride a mtn. bike.

I'd like to ride said bike indoors on one of those trainers if one exists that would work for me... (if it were in the $200 range too, that'd be great)

You guys know about this stuff, so here I am.

Wanted to stop by and give thanks to everyone who commented and suggested. I ended up going with a Mag trainer from Minoura. The frams is aluminum and seems sturdy. The cable to the remote for switching resistance is a bit long so I'll have to remedy that. There was also a small part missing. Nothing that effected function too much, but I called the company and they're sending a replacement part. Very friendly and helpful.

Overall the ride is smooth enough (once you get going and resistance is close enough to real riding that it will serve my purpose. My bike is badly in need of a tune up, so I'm off. Thanks to everyone once more.

Ok, I've done a little more reading and unless I get serious feedback against them, I'm looking at mag trainers...

Oh, I'm not new to Usenet. Granted it's the first time I've been to this particular group, but I've been hittin the groups for quite some time.
Getting pissed isn't my style. I tend to project a supreme calm and rational mindset that serves to magnify the lunatic ravings of my groundless attackers. That said, Dumbass, I just wanted to thank those few that helped and say my farewells to all.

Doncha appreciate a little closure? I like to see someone post back the resolution after asking for help.
Well, screw-you... See ya later. (casual rudeness is the order of the day with you, right?

Glad (but not surprised) I'm not the only one who hates "jumps." I'm an instructor of said classes, and I do not do "jumps" unless they are long duration and usually irregular. Certain mountain bike rides include jump-like activity, and I try to keep my indoor rides "real."

Nathan try a rim trainer, the resistance wheels mount to your rim, you can use mountain or road, never have to swap tires....

Mag trainers work fine but they're noisy. If you need an almost silent trainer get a liquid pump like the Cyclepro.

Also, they are unbelieveably boring so you have to mount them in front of the TV or something and you can get Flashdance or some spinning tape to take your mind off of how boring it is.
