    Anorexia the new technology?

Jeanson, Lance, Tyler, Beloki- Is it my imagination of does losing weight beyond ayd kind of aesthetic or even healthy limit constitute what it takesnow to really get up there except for
Ullrich, who apparently is a freak and can win on normal slimness?

yeah..i was going to question that too, but i already dont know what the hell i am talking about so i thought i had better let that attestation stand... i dont want to cross over from talking crap to trying to make any real point...

anyway, if you weigh 150 and you can lift a 300lb barbel off the ground then you are one strong ass mother fucker!

Have a look at a picture of Coppi in his prime. It was ever thus, although Fausto had rather a bit more style than ol' Lance (that's not a slam on Lance).

There is a big difference between watching your weight and anorexia, although excessive pressure from outside about one's weight can trigger an expression of anorexia. Obviously I don't know whether any of these skinnies have it, but one can't tell just from looking at them. Beloki has really skinny arms and narrow shoulders, much more so than Ullrich, but you know, some people just have small upper bodies. About the only thing you can say for certain is that it makes buying a suit jacket that fits both arms and chest a real nuisance.

i am getting confused as to who said what!...

steve-o said "assertation" which is not a word.. its a weird way to complicate a much simpler word- "assertion", and i still havent heard him say that he will bet me!

i said "attestation"... which is also a weird word... its a noun form of
"attest" which doesnt truly exist (and i knew that)... you wont find it in any strict english dictionary... it is like "supposably".. one of the most commonly used fake words that complicate and combine simpler words that are often confused- it makes sense though, combine them all into one word and cover all you bases!

Yep. I'll second that. I was single repping just under 600 at 215 in the deadlift but that was with wraps, a full warmup, and straps. The key for me was long arms, got lots better leverage for deadlift, but couldn't bench to save my life.

For such a master tactician as Lance, I fail to see how he let something like this happen. It's a rookie mistake. I think he would have some planner which he consults and tracks food/water intake. "Oh, hell, I haven't drank 6 litres of water today, or yesterday, or the day before, what am I thinking?!?!?"

This is the type of ignorant mis-information that I've come to expect

He averages around 410W which would mean that he burned about 1500
    Calories during the hour.

It takes 3500 Calories to burn 1 lb of fat.
This means that he burned 0.43 lb of fat during the 1 hour ride.
The rest was just lost due to fluid or water which he would replace by drinking after the ride.

i think everyone knows what i am talking about... pro cyclists (especially in europe) dont typicaly lift big weight in the gym and cant be considered physicaly strong in the way that american athletes are strong (ball sports, hockey) or in the way that your average american male would be considered to be strong... its just the truth...

some guys do put in an effort to have core body strength, but those guys are few... and even so they never get "big"... it doesnt ever make sense for a cyclist to have so much muscle that it puts them beyond the "strength:actual usefulness" ratio... it is a fairly simple idea...

any fit individual would be stronger than a person who doesnt excersize at all... but lets be honest.. not many road racers are as strong as your average guy in the gym whose goal is cosmetic fitness... and i will bet you also that 1 in 10 pro road racers would fail the usmc standards of fitness as well as not being able to either bench their body weight, or romanian deadlift twice their weight (these are fairly accepted standards of male strength in the gym)

the boxer thing represents the 1 guy in ten who could do this stuff- the point being that he would be the strongest of cyclists and still not look like a football player (lightweight prize fighters dont look like mike tyson)...

That would be a 'half squat', a 'real squat' goes all the way down.
300 in a half squat is really no big deal. I used to do sets of 6 with 315. Age and knees have caught up to me though.
