    Bostik......give others a chance

Just throwing this out there........Curious to know how other 50+ masters races might feel ?
It must really suck to be in Bostik's same age group, and know that you'll never win a TT championship as long as this guy keeps showing up.

Like I said.........just throwing the thought out there.....

I don't care for the way the Masters events are run now. I thought I would attempt a little humor in getting my opinion out. As you seem to say, most people seem to be happy with the system as it is and that is what counts.
They should not change anything as long as the majority of people participating are happy. Any masters racer can race with seniors whenever they want, so it is no problem.

Not to worry, the problem exists mostly in Henry's mind and his limited experience with Masters Nat's Champs.

A few years ago there were 7 or 8 current Masters National Champions racing at the track in San Jose, CA and I never saw any of them wearing the jersey except one person on a rare occasion and all of them were humble about the "title".

Some places have gone to a purely ability based system for local races. Say Cat A, B and C.

The "B" field might have Cat 3s, Masters, stronger women and juniors.
Cat 1,2 and stronger juniors can ride in the A field. This is better than combinging elite level juniors and women with local level riders.

This is sometimes effectively done in other places by combining fields.

The major objection is that Masters don't like having to race in the same fields are women and juniors. They cite skill level, but I tend to think riders of equal abilty are usually close in skill level, and most accidents are caused by riders who are weaker and struggling to stay in the race. So a good rider in a Cat 3 field might become a poor rider in a Cat 1 field.

Why take away the incentive? I see Masters Jerseys as primarily marketing tools. Everyone like to win something, right?

It must really suck to want someone to give you a trophy instead of earning it.

A number of such longitudinal studies have been performed, but only one provides any evidence of an interaction between aging and training on maximal HR. I do not know exactly why, but I can tell you that it was an unplanned retrospective analysis, and that personnel, equipment, test protocols, etc., all changed between the pre- and post- experiments, and that subject selection/retention may have been an issue.

I think you can believe who you want. Did Armstrong ever "vouch" for
Ferrari? Armstrong has first-hand knowledge that Ferrari was one of the very first to include EPO among the possibilities.

I'm not sure I have the urine flow to get in the middle of this, but...

Bostick was not the top dog this year. The guy that was is a teammate of mine. He is obsessive and psycho about hard work. And I have no doubt that he was glad that Bostick was there.

He dropped out of the sport for an extended period of time while doing the family and career building thing. When he came back he earned a cat 2 upgrade, probably one of the oldest people in the history of the fed to do so. As you might expect, he frequently races with people young enough to be his kids and he generally beats them.

And he is obsessive and psycho about hard work.

I know all about the X% decline every year after Y age stuff. And I don't buy into it. Because if you lose to some guy who is 9 years and 11 months younger than you, I think the odds are overwhelming that it is because he works harder than you rather than being because he is almost 10 years younger.

I have no doubt that if there were no physical issues other than age then
I and Henry and Warren and Greg could all be competitive at the Cat 1/2 level if we were only obsessive and psycho about hard work.

Not obsessive and psycho about hard work.
