7s sprocket ok on 9s cassette?
I have a 7 speed 11-34 cassette, and I'd like to use th 11t sprocket on a 9 speed cassette. Possible? Easy? Need a different spacer?
Sprocket just too thick to get away with?
I see that I can go the other direction; in

But I don't know if it would work the other way.

re:7s sprocket ok on 9s cassette?
I've noticed the 13T has a recess on my 7s Megarange, but the 15T does not. If customizing cassettes, need we verify first, when acquiring/selecting the cassette for installation adjacent the 11T, the second smallest cassette has a recess, or do all resonably probable second smallest cassettes (12/13/14) come with the recess for mating to the 11T?
Am I correct is suspecting only the 11T sprockets fit into recesses on the adjacent sprocket?

That's true on the Megarange (11-34) 7-speed, and, I believe on all
8-speeds.
It's not the case on 9-speeds, and I don't think it's true of all
7-speeds either.

re:7s sprocket ok on 9s cassette?
BTW, all Shimano; the 7 speed is a "MegaRange" HG and the 9 speed is a 2001 105. The end result will go on a 105 9 speed hub with a 105 rear derailleur.
