Scott USA is not in the US domestic market. So much for fact checking at
IHT and the NYTimes. All of the companies discussed are far from dominant in Europe. CycleEuropa has much of the market and there are other brands, e.g.. LaPierre, that sell far more machines than the US 4 in Europe. I'd place my bet on Cannondale to do best in the long haul. They aren't tied to one pony like Trek. Also, much will depend on the value of the dollar.

How does this have anything to do with doping ? Are you starting to broaden your areas of expertise ?

It's a good marketing move for Trek and possibly Cannondale. The big
European bike companies are in disarray. Cycleurope which owns
Bianchi, Gitane & formerly Peugeot has lost a lot of marketshare over the years. Raleigh cycle (formerly Derby International)corporation is also in a lot of trouble as well. The europeans are still strong in the high end racing market and are the leaders in cycling technology.

Caloi are a Brazilian brand. There is/was a US distributor, but I think most of the dealers were in Florida.

IIRC, the Calois were rebadged Merckxs.

Laudoma, you're back from your great adventure in the sporting world. There was a rumor going around that you were dealing blackjack in Atlantic City.
    Any truth to that?

There used to be some Mexican manufacturers like Benotto USA or
Winsdor bikes. I was always a bit suprised that some of the bike companies did not acquire some or start bike factories in Mexico.

It beats the hell out of buying "French" bicycles that are really made in Italy in a factor known for the color Celeste.
