Tony, The newer frame designs have a lot of fancy shock absorbing bends in the stays and forks. You can spend a terrible amount of money and get a frame a little lighter, but can you justify it if you arn't racing? I tend to be a little fanatical about weighing components and frames and my 80s era Centurion Comp T/A (54cm) weighs 1920 Grams while my Carbon/Aluminum frame is 2028 grams. Go Figure! I suggest you find a proper sized older Cromoly frame and save the big bucks for nice components and wheels.
