sachs ergopower + shimano ultegra rd - 2004/10/11 01:20 i want to put ergo/sti levers on my triathlon bike. but cause i´m a student i got a very small budget.
my bike got an 8speed dura ace cassette and a 9speed shimano ultegra rear rd. is it possible to use sachs ergopower to shift?

i know that campa produces the sachs ergos, but i think i heard that the index is for shimano 8speed dr.
i am shure that the 9speed ultegra works with a shimano 8speed index (í´m using 8speed shimano bar end shifters at the moment), but i am not really sure that the sachs ergos have the right index.

than i got another question. if my cassette is worn out can i use a sachs nwe success 8speed rd and a campy 9speed index in the sachs ergos to shift 9speed? i heard that this also will work.

thanks for your answers.

re:sachs ergopower + shimano ultegra rd - 2004/10/11 02:52 I bought some new Sachs Ergopower shifters for use with a new (2001) Ultegra rear derailleur. It did not index for more than 6 of the 8 cogs. The shifters pulled too much cable for the Ultegra. And not enough for a Campy rear derailleur.

Next I installed a Sachs New Success rear derailleur. Works great now.

Yes as long as the rear der isn't worn out.

No-if you install a Campagnolo 9s shift disc, then you need a Campagnolo rear der-and then a 9s cogset.
