Nine dollars for an adjusting screw?

My LBS guy sold me a single Merlin derailer barrel adjusting screw for a braze-on for $9. Seems like a lot. Is that reasonable? I asked if it was Ti and he made a face. This is a guy who told me Ultegra brakes were $90 a pair then when I went to buy them a couple of weeks later he charged me $100.

I am looking for a source (either manufacturer or distributor) for shifter cable couplers. I know that these are used on tandems and other bikes that can be disassembled but haven't had much luck finding them. BTW, I am only looking to couple the inner cable and not the housing.

Actually I am really looking for an inline cable length adjuster to put in the front der cable between the BB and front

re:Aternative/noseless saddles?

Does anyone have any experience with alternative saddles which do not have a nose like the Hobson saddle?

It seems most discomfort comes from the pressure the saddle exerts in the perineal region. I do not have any pain from regular saddles I am seeking something more comfortable and that does not exert pressure in the perineal area.

What are the disadvantages to saddles without a nose?

Creaking Look/Sidi combo

I've Look free arc pedals, combined with Sidi shoes from 2002.

Recently the left (only) combo has started to creak like a old door when I dig deep.

Removed the cleat plated and cleaned, tightened till I couldn't any more.
Tightened and loosened the adjusting screw on the Sidi's to both ends and middle.
Removed the pedal plate from axle, checked for grease and refitted.
Removed, greased, adjusted

Rear Der. Angle Adjustment - Out of Range

I'm building up a bike with a new Ultegra group. I'm at the point of adjusting the angle (i.e. B-tension) of the rear derailleur (or
"derailer" if it pleases Mr Brown), model RD-6500. The rear cluster is a
12-27, the chainrings are 52-42-30, FWIW.

The Shimano installation instructions say to turn the B-tension adjusting screw so that the guide pulley just clears the largest sprocket, then check

Front derailleur RX100: Can't shift into high Chainring

After several years of use, my RX100 (52/42/30) the front derailleur suddenly won't shift into the large chainring. The chain gets pinned against the large chainring but never gets lifted up. I can't see any alignment/movement problems. All other movements are still fine. What is wrong and how can it be fixed? I tried a new chain - it didn't help.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. - John
