Is there anything scientifically to the theory that ANY intense early season riding will interfere with capillary development, thereby undermining later hard training and ultimately heroic efforts to push the lard over the hill?

A few quick q's for the experts here...

I had been training pretty hard for about 6-8 weeks (new year and all that).
Dieting, LT threshold rides, longer interval training, etc. I had put in about 815 miles (road and trainer) between Jan 1 and Feb 19. I raised my LT from around 163 bpm to somewhere between 170-174 (I think my max is
181-183).

Okay, so I suck at climbing.

There, I've said it. I love to climb hills, but I want to improve my climbing.

I have a feeling that my technique is not optimal, and I'm looking for some (onbike?) exercises to improve.

I get the feeling that my downward leg is doing all the work and my upward leg is along for the ride. When I concentrate on pulling up, I go up the hill much faster, doh, but I can'
