To interject some real data into the chain lubrication debate I devised the following method for comparing two methods.

1. Take one PC-48 chain, size it for the bike and then "break" it into two equal sections
2. Join the two sections with second "Power Link."

re:Roll your own Rohloff cog wear gauge?

How does a Rohloff cog wear gauge work? Could I duplicate it? It looks very similar to a chain whip, even simpler, it just appears to be a single short length of new chain with one end attached to a bar.

I googled r.b.t. for the subject, and didn't find any ideas on alternative ways to check a sprocket for wear.

Went to buy a digital camera as a christmas present. On the way back, saw something weird. Couldn't find my own digital camera while driving, but I was able to get the new one out of the box and running, to take a few pictures of this.
