re:Lance photo in SI In category Racing Written by rickZ The current issue of Sports Illustrated (former NFL player who got killed in Afghanistan on the cover) has a full-spread photo of Lance taken during the TT stage of the Tour de Georgia. It's an awesome photo. Lance looks as lean and mean as I've ever seen him in any photo.
re:ttt stage In category Racing Written by Hiro In my opinion the deciding gap between Armstrong and Ulrich was made on the stage team trial. Armstrong gained ( I don't know 2 minutes or so) on Jan. I believe if you take that stage away Jan wears yellow into paris. Armstrong's team is clearly better than Jan's, but head to head Ulrich is stronger than Lance. I wonder what would be the difference if Jan had Lance's team and vice versa. Question
re:The real reason behing the UCI's tech decisions In category Racing Written by Digit The UCI just handed down a ruling banning the use of disc brakes on 'cross bikes. Manufacturers are baffled by this decision, as many 'cross racers have been specifically asking for disc brakes for their better performance in adverse conditions. "Stu Thorne, owner of cyclocross.com and sponsor of a handful of UCI-competing ÂŒcrossers, said the decision might just be an over-reaction to an influx
re:Put down the crack pipe In category Racing Written by Spidex Here is George's palmares page: http://www.hincapie.com/biography.cfm He has a win in a midweek semi-classic. He has zero (that's ZERO folks) podium finishes in big weekend races. Zero. None. It has never happened. If you were looking for a star to build a classics team around, why would you pick George? The list of guys with better records as classics riders is really long. Don't get me wro
re:Winning a Sixth Tour de France In category Racing Written by ccsikyr If I'm not mistaken, all of the previous 5 time TdF winners tried to win #6, and all failed. Does Lance Armstrong have a better chance than Eddy, the Badger, or Miguel, etc.? He's never crashed out since his winning streak started. He's never had any really bad luck. He's bonked a couple of times, but not with disastrous results. His climbing superiority was evident only once in the last Td
re:Flat stages are boring (non-TT) In category Racing Written by manitcor I admit I am not a die-hard cycling fan, only really following cycling closely around TdF time. But you cannot tell me that these flat stages have any kind of excitement to them. Unless there are crashes and such. No one really remembers these solo stage winners, the only memories are of yellow jersey winners and contenders for that yellow jersey. And the flat stages have very little relevance
re:What is with all the non-lance posts? In category Racing Written by AlexanderYoshi Trainers, Le Grande Boucle, "criteriums" (whatever the hell *those* are.), the world cup. Is there really a world of cycling outside of the TdF, Dauphine, and other races the god of cycling, Lance Armstrong, does?
re:AA and Two Guns fight Videos! In category Racing Written by Didgman Andrew Albright and Brian Trdina fight. mpg and avi. I don't know either of the guys personally but it looks like AA was a little heavy and got tired early. On the flip side Brian looked to have better fitness and more punches overall. AA did get in some good shots here and there but Two Guns constant pummeling seems to be too much for AA. You decide. ftp://68.45.50.251/thrillainmanilla/ Also e
Athlete of the year in Germany In category Racing Written by cz8s The winner of this year's election was Jan Ullrich. A nice surprise for a cycling fan (I considered Michael Schumacher the favorite). Jan won that title in 1997 as well. At the "Sportler des Jahres" cerimony he really looked rather overweight that year. Well, he didn't look skinny tonight, but much better than in winter 1997. There was a special category in the athlete of the year election. It
re:Emergency Gum Surgery Requried at OLN In category Racing Written by mcubic The real hero of this year's Tour is not Tyler Hamilton...it's Bob Roll, because he has to appear genuinely interested in Kirsten Gum's banal commentary. Gum in France is sort of like "Daisy Mae Goes to Paris" ("Golly, gee wiz....I want that-there anguille de Loire fumée, copeaux de foie gras de canard à la croque au sel with hot sauce and ketchup on the side"). Each time Gum takes a shot at a
Lest One Think It's Not All About Lance In category Racing Written by dgrabow "I noticed that today (Thursday, May 13) for the first time you've listed the live Giro d'Italia coverage on OLN. The race has been broadcast since Saturday, but you seem to have just figured it out. "I've also been somewhat disappointed by the lack of coverage of what is arguably the second most important bike race in the world. I found one little item about Gilberto Simoni's stage 3 win, but no 1 Product tagged with "cycling fan"300 lbs. weight capacity. Dual action arms for full body workout. Unique air resistance system.
