I finally got my campy record brifters no cables tho. Concerning gear/brake cables, should I be using gear cabling for the brake/gear levers or is there a seperate cable for each lever ? Also, must I use the campy cable set or ???

I've read a lot of the posts in this thread; enough to get concerned about popouts. However I'm not sure of the current solutions.
Apparently there can be problems even with 'lawyer lips' as a solution. Bolts I guess are foolproof.(?)

I am using Shimano XT 2003 front and rear derailers, I am looking for good books and internet resources or someone I can correspond with who can help me through adjusting the front and rear mechs.

The main problem I am having is the chain rubs against front derailer cage when shifting to the smaller cogs on the (rear) cassette.

Somewhere I remember reading that ferrules are NOT to be used on either the brake or the derailleur housing where they enter the ergo shifters..I can't remember which. I read the campy manual and didn't find anything. Any advice?
I'm all set up ready to install but don't dare proceed without resolving this.

I looked over the posts for the last few days so I hope that I am doing this right. I checked the bike shops near me and not a one offers a bike for under $225. I have asked friends to grandparents and my absolute ceiling is $150 give or take only a few dollars. I can not finance at this time so I need to purchase from the lcoal retailers.

Replacement Gear Cable for STI

I plan to replace my gear and brake cables over the winter. For one thing, I don't want the gear cables to start breaking up and jamming the STI levers.

I've noticed that you can buy Shimano replacement "cable sets" or you can buy generic cables and housings
