Does Tyler have a Triple?! In category Racing Written by Arker If i am not mistaken it looks like he has a triple. no seriously though, does he?
re:Bolt pitch/diameter In category Tech issues Written by Phrantic What pitch and diameter are the bolts that clamp down most ATB brake levers on the handlebar?
re:50T or 52T on ATB frame In category Tech issues Written by blr I would like to fit a larger outer chainring on my ATB. It has a compact frame, but a non-compact front derailleur works fine. I have successfully fitted a Shimano 28-38-48 chainset but the largest ring is not fast enough. I don't necessarily need a triple chainset. It is a 7-speed system with a megarange free wheel. It has standard SIS fit 50T or 52T but don't know which products to go for. Any
re:Lawyer lips In category Tech issues Written by TransMan My Cannondale Pepperoni fork has two round "bumps" on each dropout to defeat the QR in case J. Random Biker forgets to tighten it. As I am fed up of adjusting the QR every time I remove the wheel, and the forks are going for a respray anyway, can these be safely filed down? They appear to be either bonded or pressed into the main dropout - I'd be interested if anyone else has done it on this typ
tapered bottom bracket In category Tech issues Written by JBarretta I have an old 110 mm bolt circle Ritchey Crankset that has been mounted on a Campy record spindle (116 mm?) I know that the Ritchey crank is meant for a jis taper and the campy is an ISO taper. The crank does not bottom out on the spindle-it actually seems like an OK fit. My questions are 1) does anyone know what the recommended spindle length for this crank is?, and 2) what is the exact differenc
re:Campag double gearing help In category Tech issues Written by Golgi301 I'm going to the tdf this year and hope to climb some of the mountains while I'm there. I have a 2002 10 speed Campag Chorus double setup, with a 53/39 and 12/25. I realise this is not going to be low enough for me to get up, unless I become superman soon. What is the lowest I can get for my existing setup. I know there is a 13/26 but what about the front? Something like a 33 or 35 would be nice
re:Lower gearing suggestions wanted In category Tech issues Written by mkov311 I want lower gears without much work/expense for my old road bike. have 52/42 old Dura Ace crankset in front (from 1987, originally from 6-speed "SG" setup) and 12-26 8-speed in the rear with an old (c. 1992 8-speed Dura Ace rear derraiuller, capacity 26 teeth. (Dura Ace ST lever for the rear, 105 STI lever for the front, FWIW. I think the easiest thing is to get a 38T inner ring in front, e.g.
re:campag gearing and Marmotte In category Tech issues Written by Bluecynic this year i'm planning to do the Marmotte but have a prob with my current gearing - my lowest gear is 39/25. will this gearing be low enough to climb up alpe d'huez after 9-10 hours up and down through the alps? (i'm reasonbly fit). I've no experience of alpine climbs - long but how steep? if not what options do i have to down-gear my record 10 speed? one thought i've had is to stick on a chea
re:Cyclocross parts/frame question In category Tech issues Written by hrd2hndle As some of you may know I'm an active cyclist. I do about 10.000 miles/year on my racing bikes. I have some spareparts here(wheelset, chain, cassette, bracket, saddle) and I'm tempted to build a cyclocross bike. Since I have no or little experience with these bikes, I would like to hear from you. I'll ride it during cold days in the winter, when a hard wind is blowing, on flat unpaved roads in
re:Hamilton's crankset In category Tech issues Written by cgb In Tyler Hamilton's Tour diary, he wrote that he is using 52/36 carbon crank (130 bolt circle) with what I think are 53/39. The smallest chainring available for a 130 crank is a 38. Has anyone seen any photos of Hamilton with another crank set that would fit a 36? Or am I mistaken and the FSA crank in the picture is a 110 mm bolt circle? Thanks for your thoughts.
re:Service Ritchey MTB rear freehub, possible? In category Tech issues Written by hrd2hndle My rear freehub seems to be nearly dead: it is almost fixed gear now, rotating with the wheel, pulling the chain from the below, and making the derailer bend to its limit. It is a Ritchey MTB hub; no "Pro"/"Comp"/"WCS" marks. Did anyone disassemble it? Is it just like Shimano freehubs? Would I need the "hard-to-find Shimano special tool (TL-FH 40)" just to clean the sand from the internals and re

re:older dura-ace crank, newer pedals In category Tech issues Written by Missie I have an older bike with a dura-ace crank. The crank accepts a pedal with a 25mm bolt. I'd like to fit the bike with modern Look pedals - which have a standard thread of 9/16 (I think). Does anyone know of an adapter that will allow modern pedals to be attached to this older crank? 0 Products tagged with "mm bolt" |
