I'm thinking about a disk brake cross bike for primarily winter road riding. I've read the previous related threads. My reason for wanting disks is that it rains fairly constantly here (Hood River, OR)

So I 've gotten the bright idea into my head to try and do the Mt.
Washington hillclimb this summer. my current setup is a double chainring and I'd like to convert to a tripple. what is the bare minimun I need to change out? my assumption is:
-Left Ultegra STI lever -> STI tripple (or add a downtube friction shifter cause I've got one on hand, whoo hoo)

I recently built up a ss mtb. I got an old Marin Frame and fork for 10bux.
I used an old derailleur for a tensioner. I cut the bottom jockey wheel off and it acts as a push down type tensioner. I rode 2 rides this past week (about 12 miles each) and did the RI NEMBA ride Sunday (21miles). I had some slight slippage/noise on the first two rides under force.
