I recall seeing a picture on the Internet of a rider, I think Roger de
Vlaeminck, riding solo up a mountain pass. The singular thing about the shot was the fact that the roadway was carved out of the snow such that the rider appeared against a huge wall of snow. My guess is that it was the giro in the Dolomites. It was a very striking image, but I can't seem to find it again. Anyone know what I'm

Ok, so we've pretty well beaten the weight issue to death, with the conclusion of it really doesn't matter that much - a 500g saving is a 500g saving, but the fact that its on the wheels instead of the frame (or drink bottle, or pump, or me) doesn't make any real difference.

So, the remaining motivation to go and spend some of my beloved savings on a new set of wheels

re:12-27 vs 12-25

I currently have an 11-23 on my Ultegra double and need more range. Should
I go for the 12-27, or are there shifting issues, etc., that would steer me toward the 12-25. I can ride the 23, but have developed some "over-use" type injuries from riding the hills around here.
