I would like to fit a larger outer chainring on my ATB. It has a compact frame, but a non-compact front derailleur works fine. I have successfully fitted a Shimano 28-38-48 chainset but the largest ring is not fast enough. I don't necessarily need a triple chainset. It is a 7-speed system with a megarange free wheel. It has standard SIS

On my new frame the front derailleur cable goes down the seat tube. I wanted to equip this frame with
Campa Centaur Ergopowers and a triple crankset (52/40/30)
A racing front derailleur does not work with a cable from above (= top pull?) Do you have an idea which front derailleur I could use?
Maybe I try a mtb front derailleur or Shimano atb derailleurs?

Ref. my post below on using a Deore front dérailleur on a road bikeset-up. I understand that amount of cage movement for a given cable pull is different for Shimano ATB dérailleurs as compared to their road models. But is it more, or less?
