I'm in the process of trying to put together (or buy if there's one available) a great commuter/bad weather bike.

I intend to use it mostly for commuting (12 miles each way in reasonably hilly terrain--takes me about 45-50 minutes), especially in rainy weather.
When the weather is nice and the roads are clear, I'll probably ride my road bike instead.

So, hypothetically, I have a trip that starts from the Sahara to Antarctica.
It'll be about a week in each place, and I have a wheel that's built with titanium spokes on the drive side of my wheel, and SS spokes on the non-drive-side. Will the temperature difference cause it to go out-of-dish?

I've just completed the build on my first cross bike and have put cross tires on my 32 hole training wheels. These wheels are holding up fine although the fire roads in this area are a little rough on 'em.

I am going to build a new set of wheels so that I don't have to switch the tires on these wheels from road to cross. And this leads to my questions.

I just got a great deal on a Klein Q-Carbon. The only thing I don't like about it is the cheap wheelset. I do a lot of charity rides and don't race (usually average between 17-20 mph). I ride about 2000 miles per summer in hilly New England. I weigh 170 lbs. I'm considering three options to replace the wheels:

I have a self-built rear wheel with Mavic CXP33 rim, 32 DT 14/15/14G spokes and a modern Campagnolo Chorus hub. The wheel has about 13 months or 6500 kilometres on it. It was the first wheel I ever built, and I built it three-cross on the right and radial on the left. I built a wheel for fun today using a 32-hole Deore hub and Weinmann rim and lacing 8 no-name SS spokes 2x on the drive side and 4 spokes radial on the non-drive side.
