re:Threaded versus threadless headset In category Tech issues Written by Timo What's the advantage of a threadless headset over an oldfashioned threaded one? Is the threaded one stiffer/lighter? Would it improve my riding in any way going from threaded to threadless?
How big is a one inch headset? In category Tech issues Written by sterbs I bought myself a nice new carbon fork and I thought getting a one inch headset would be easy, but when I went to the local bike shop they don't seem to have that "old" size anymore. And the ones they do have are either too tight or too loose. How big in millimetres is a one inch head stem? Why the hell are there so many variations on one inch? When I was a boy one inch was 25.4 mm. What size is
re:Ugly Dura Ace Chainset In category Tech issues Written by Diktor Is it just me or does anyone else think that the latest Dura Ace Chainset is sort of ugly; see - http://www.pbase.com/image/22335710 I used to think that the Dura Ace Chainset from the early to mid nineties was the most asthestically pleasing piece of bike kit on the planet - worth having from a purely functional and visual view point. re:Compact frame vs Traditional Frame geometry In category Tech issues Written by Thellos de Damac What is the main difference between the two bike geometries? I realize that there is a shorter top tube, but other than that, what is the difference or reason behind it? Also why are there so few steel (old school technology here) in the compact geometry.
re:cut off threaded steer tube? In category Tech issues Written by Maels I have a nice fork I want to put on a nice frame. But the threaded fork is much too tall, and I am considering cutting off the threads and converting to a threadless setup. This is in lieu of cutting and then re-threading the fork or simply abandoning the idea and getting a fork that fits (if I did the latter, what would be the point of accumulating and packing away bike junk in my huge garage?)
re:Kogswell Bikes In category Tech issues Written by Akina Anyone have any experience with these frames? They are lugged single speed and derraileur style frames for about $339. There is no contact info on the website (only a Paypal order form) I'm debating about purchasing one of these vs. an old Trek touring frame to build. My only dislike are threadless headsets because they are usually way too low. I like the old quill type arrangement.
