re:Tour de France routes In category Racing Written by weitzman This last TdF saw some complaints and criticisms that had there not been a Team Time Trail that Ullrich would have won. And lo and behold, in this years Tour there appears to be no TTT. It is extremely unlikely that Armstrong could win a 6th Tour since history shows us that the motivation, physical prowess and luck required to do this hasn't been forthcoming in the world's greatest riders. But
re:L' Alpe D' Huez training? In category Racing Written by soopurman Are some of the top racers like Armstrong and Ullrich and others seen a lot on L'Alpe D'Huez on a regular basis. it seems as this is probably the pivotal stage of the race, they would make it a regular training ride and get to know it like the "back of their hand."
re:Lance may have one ball, but Heras has none In category Racing Written by Icem How does he expect to regain maximum time if he waits until 5 km to attack (if he does at all)? Takes guts to attack further out. What does he have to lose, he's already won the Vuelta before?
re:lance armstrong shows what a class guy he is In category Racing Written by ccsikyr by giving the $465,000 for winning the tour de france to his teammates and staff. now just how many athletes would do as lance did whether or not they NEEDED the money? i dare say hardly any if anyone at all. major kudos to lance for rewarding your team.
re:Merckx critical of Ullrich In category Racing Written by vladzmina "Although Jan Ullrich maintains that he is right on target for his Tour de France plans, there are concerns that he is taking things a little too easy at this time of year. In today's Rund um Köln, Ullrich could only manage 64th place at 5'41 down from the winner, a far cry from his 52 km solo effort to win last year. Ullrich joked afterwards that, "In 2003 I was an outsider and I was only able
re:Irony From LeBlanc In category Racing Written by vladzmina Given that LeBlanc has modernized Le Tour to the point where, IMO, epic no longer applies, it seems ironic that the official 2004 TdF poster has jerseys of a retro design from when the Le Tour was an epic sporting event.
re:Lance movie In category Racing Written by Jenkins Some day Hollywood will make a movie about Lances's 7 Tour de France victories. We all know, as cyclists, that it will bomb at the box office. Let's face it, if you arn't a cyclist you don't have a clue about what's going on in the TDF. So I don't expect the movie to be a high budget one, but I hope, and really pray, that Hollywood doesn't star Robin Williams as Lance.
re:Lance photo in SI In category Racing Written by rickZ The current issue of Sports Illustrated (former NFL player who got killed in Afghanistan on the cover) has a full-spread photo of Lance taken during the TT stage of the Tour de Georgia. re:Why is Armstrong in the TDF? In category Racing Written by Hiro Ok, so this may have been asked, I've spent the last couple of hours (literally!) going through various threads (summer's here, time to ride not follow Usenet!) but I didn't see this question: Why are there Americans (the United States kind) racing in France? Navigators ``Plot'' In category Racing Written by DrewTucson Sraight from his special undercover reporter: Davey can now reveal that the Peloton is 100% clean. re:Lance and Sheryl On The Cover...... In category Racing Written by Digit Structured people are often very much into lust. Spend an evening from 11 pm onward at the Caffe Pierre in the Hotel Pierre,NYC. You'll see some very structured men paying $1000+ per hour to indulge their lust. Question about Tiscali In category Racing Written by SkiingYAC I am a CSC employee. Last year, I attended the Tour de France and what was called "CSC Employee Week at the Tour". I have my CSC-Tiscali cycling jersey that I bought while at Les Deux Alpes. I just wondered if you knew why Tiscali dropped out as a sponsor of the team after last year? And is the company regretting it, after Team CSC had such a successful tour?
re:Ullrich will win the Tour de France In category Racing Written by tcsaklos Each night I have been watching the Tour de France on the Outdoor Life Network on my satellite antenna and with amazement I have seen Lars Ullrich craftfully hiding in the back of the pelleton waiting for his moment. re:Style Question for Fabrizio wrt Alexandre Vinokourov In category Racing Written by Hiro So, I'm watching the stage 15 of the Tour de France with my 8 year old, Emma. I mention that I think Alexandre Vinokourov is better looking than Jan Ullrich. re:Lance on Letterman In category Racing Written by tcsaklos I was barely awake ... but I do remember seeing Halle Barre. She's looked better, but hey ... Lance basically answered Dave's silly non-cyclist questions. He also talked about the crash a month before
re:historically, any idea when cyclists started shaving their l In category Racing Written by vinylbunnie Now that the Giro is over, it's time for random historical inquiries-- Does anyone know when competitive cyclists first started shaving their legs? re:The Moron French In category Racing Written by scottypu You can easily identify them with their irrational criticism of Lance Armstrong. I've been dealing with such people for the last little while, and it's been sort of amusing to counter every single one of their arguments, but it's gotten tiresome and even dangerous recently. The subject is usually introduced by the use of the term "The American" to describe Armstrong. Once, I responded with: "You
re:Ideas for improving RAAM... In category Racing Written by jlawhea Some RAAM notions... What if RAAM was self-supported. This would make the event budget within reach of most anyone. re:A little knowledge... In category Racing Written by Dafty092483 I was working on the crossword, and the clue was "Tour De France racer". This should be easy, I thought, "Lance Armstrong". The only guy I see beating LA is Ullrich, the last thing I want to see is LA mentioned in the same breath as the other 5 time champions.
